The improvements to Underwood Street include operational enhancements including left turn lanes and updated signals and signing at several locations throughout the project limits as a result of insufficient sight distances and heavy traffic volumes on Underwood Street and at various side street locations. In addition, the bridge crossing over Mille Creek will be replaced and widened from two lanes to three lanes and Richardson Avenue at this location may be relocated further from Mill Creek. Environmental tasks include wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species surveys, research on potential contamination and cultural resources, and floodplain compensation. A section 404 permit with the United States Army Corps of Engineers will be required.
