American was selected to provide a study involving evaluating the improvement alternatives for the replacement of the US 1 / SR 5 low level bridges and the addition of a sidewalk in the northeast corner of Palm Beach County including the addition of a sidewalk between the bridges. The US 1 / SR 5 low level bridges include four structures, two northbound and two southbound. Environmental tasks include community impact assessment, traffic noise analysis, contamination screening, section 4(f) evaluation, visual and aesthetic impact assessment, water quality impact evaluation, GIS research, identify permit conditions, and coordination with agencies and subconsultants. American evaluated alternatives for this alignment and concluded that exfiltration trench would be the most viable method to provide water quality treatment for the proposed improvements prior to discharge to the aquatic preserve. This approach was discussed and accepted by SFWMD. The study included sea grass surveys, wetland delineation, and a permit is being applied for from the US Coast Guard.
