American prepared construction plans for the widening and reconstruction of 1.1 miles of SR 21 from Old Jennings Road to south of Knight Boxx Road in Clay County. American’s design included the following:
- Widening and reconstruction of SR 21 from four to six-through lanes by adding two-through lanes in the median
- Various typical sections were evaluated and an urban typical section with sidewalk was selected
- Widening a 350-foot bridge structure from four-lanes to six-lanes and modification of the outside shoulders of the bridge to accommodate pedestrians. This work included the use of a handrail mounted on the side of the precast slab units to provide the required sidewalk widths
- Development of two stormwater management facilities
