City of Naples:
Park Shore Drive & Harbour Drive Bridge Rehabilitation
Collier County, Florida
American was responsible for the evaluation, load rating, preparation of widening and repair plans, and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) for two precast, prestressed concrete core-slab bridges over the Intercoastal Waterway. The City of Naples wanted to make these two bridges showpieces for these high-profile bridges near the coastline in downtown Naples. The bridges were widened to include the addition of a sidewalk and bicycle path on each side, as well as the implementation of numerous aesthetic improvements including decorative lighting and an ornamental barrier railing to fit within the context of the high-end community in which the bridge is located. Extensive utility coordination was required to temporarily relocate public and private utilities on both bridges while permanent facilities were constructed. Repairs included the placement of structural jackets on deteriorated piles and repair of failed sea wall panels.
