Lutz Lake Fern Road PD&E Study:
Suncoast Parkway to East of Dale Mabry Highway
Hillsborough County, Florida
Hillsborough County is widening Lutz Lake Fern Road from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided urban highway. American managed all aspects of the preliminary and final design and analysis for this $55 million, 3.9-mile project.
The project development and environment (PD&E) study included the analysis of conceptual design improvements along Lutz Lake Fern Road from west of the Suncoast Parkway to east of North Dale Mabry Highway, which included the development of interim improvements to coincide with the addition of a new high school near the existing elementary and middle schools, a new school entrance and coordination with the new interchange connection with the Suncoast Parkway proposed by the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.
Services include traffic analysis and modeling, preliminary engineering, environmental analysis and documentation, right-of-way appraisals and cost estimates, public involvement and the preparation of 30% conceptual design plans.
The study was completed in less than one year, which was three months ahead of schedule. Following completion of this initial phase, American was authorized to perform final design services.
