Hounsfield Wind Farm
Jefferson and Oswego Counties, New York
American served in the program management role for design and permitting of 200 megawatt wind farm project in northern New York State. The wind farm, located on an island 10 miles offshore in Lake Ontario, will require the construction of an eight-mile underwater transmission cable and a 39-mile overland transmission line spanning two counties.
The project involved the coordination and completion of Environmental Impact Statement and NYS Public Service Commission Article VII filing. American provided project siting guidance and feasibility guidance for the proper design and development of the project. American’s Graphic Department developed and managed the project website to assist in public outreach program.
We directed the completion of numerous studies including noise assessments, wetlands, cultural resources, habitat assessments, wildlife studies, Article VII filing for a new transmission line. Employed field geographic information system (GIS) collection system that was used to collect wetland, historical and survey information to complete studies for development. American worked directly with approving agencies including NYSDEC, USACE, NYS Department of State and NYS Public Service Commission.
