Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus:
North End Projects

Buffalo, New York

American was selected by the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus to prepare a Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) for the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus – North End Projects. This work was completed in accordance with the NY State Environmental Quality Review Act.

The North End Projects are four independent projects, consisting of a hospital building which will house a vascular institute, a new medical office building, a skilled nursing facility, and a 1,200-1,600 parking space multi-modal transportation structure. The projects are sponsored by three separate developers (Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Kaleida Health and Ciminelli Development Company, Inc.).

In preparing the GEIS, American helped define and describe the projects and assess impacts to the following resources: land use and zoning; transportation and parking; utilities; visual and aesthetic resources; historic (archaeological and cultural resources); topography, geology and soils; neighborhood character, socioeconomics; air quality; solid/medical/hazardous wastes; hazardous and contaminated sites; public services; alternatives; adverse environmental impacts that cannot be avoided; irreversible and irretrievable commitment of resources; and growth inducing impacts of
the project.
