The Project Management Application (PMA) is an ASP.NET 2.0 Relational Data Management System that was created to act as a “container” for all project information. The PMA is a secure internet based application that is used to manage project related documents (ranging from simple correspondence to maps, work plans and reports), project related photographs, contract/sub-consultant related budget information, and an ESRI ArcGIS Server Web Mapping Application. Some additional features of the Project Management Application are as follows:
- Centralized location for all project related material.
- Secure internet connection to all project related documents as Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
- Secure internet connection to all project related photographs, photograph description and photograph comments.
- Role and Access rule security enabled for access to task and subcontractor specific budget information.
- Each consultant/subcontractor is responsible for their portion of the Project Management Application.
- Link to an ArcGIS Server Web Mapping Application (WMA) that utilizes versioned ArcSDE geodatabases so that Quality Assurance/Quality Control can be performed on all edited data to ensures data integrity and consistency.
- WMA contains map printing functionality for hard copy creation/reproduction and geoprocessing functionality that can be tailored to any project need.
- Levels of access can be easily modified based on client and subcontractor needs
The PMA has proven to be extremely beneficial in managing mass amounts of project related information for a number of American clients. Given the ability to access any project related document, photographs, as well as the ability to create high quality maps, the PMA allows project related decisions to be made, and implemented, on time and under budget.
